Tatjana Meirelles Penfold


Tatjana Meirelles, a filmmaker and photographer hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, completed her film studies at UCT and subsequently worked for ten years as a creative researcher and editor in the TV commercials industry. Since 2013, she has been freelancing and has worked with local and international clients as a film director and stills photographer.

Some notable achievements in her career include winning cinematography awards for her Fashion Film, Sopopular X, receiving nominations for her film Monte Cavalo Stud, and presenting a five-screen video installation during the Venice Biennale of Architecture. Additionally, in 2020, she co-directed a documentary feature with Dugald Macdonald that premiered at the Encounters Documentary Film Festival.

Whether working on personal or commercial projects, Tatjana Meirelles aims to strike a balance between storytelling and a bold visual style. Her work often explores human interaction with landscapes and architectural forms.
